Wigan Warriors without two players after World Club Challenge win

Super League Predictions

Wigan Warriors secured their fifth World Club Challenge title on Saturday night but on their return to Super League, they’re set to take on Huddersfield Giants.

Matt Peet’s side will be without one of their try-scorers from Saturday with Kruise Leeming unavailable and one of the two changes from the squad named to face Penrith Panthers.

Another player who is unavailable is prop forward Mike Cooper who left the field and saw his knee heavily strapped during Saturday’s clash, but thankfully for Wigan Warriors, they’re able to replace him with world-class quality.

That replacement is Luke Thompson who returns to the squad after having missed out due to a failed HIA following the Round One win against Castleford Tigers.

The other addition to the squad is Jack Farrimond as he completes the 21-man group that will take on Huddersfield Giants, with the club confirming that squad news via their website.

Huddersfield Giants boosted by star’s return to face Wigan Warriors

Jake Connor will be a coach for Siddal as they face Wakefield Trinity in the Challenge Cup

As for Ian Watson’s side, they’ll have a chance to try and bounce back from a heavy defeat to St Helens with Paul Wellens’ side having secured a 34-0 win on Saturday.

Huddersfield are boosted by the return of Jake Connor who was also undergoing a HIA protocol, just like Luke Thomspon, and his return will likely mean that there’s a change in the halves.

Round One saw Adam Clune partner Olly Russell with Connor at one due to Tui Lolohea’s ban, whereas Round Two saw the same half-back pairing with Lolohea at full-back. Watson will now have to decide which of those four players misses out.

Captain Luke Yates remains out due to suspension but the move of Leroy Cudjoe into the pack has worked wonders for the club, Cudjoe currently ranks third for the most tackles in Super League with 82 across his first two games.

Another huge update for Friday’s game is that Wigan Warriors have confirmed tickets will be just £5 as they aim to fill the DW Stadium once again to celebrate their World Club Challenge victory, an incredible offer than could well see a crowd of 20,000 plus turn out.
