Wigan Warriors wish star player “well on new adventure” as they promise “big” things from him

This morning, Wigan Warriors have confirmed the departure of star player Kai Pearce-Paul to the NRL.

It comes a year in advance of his move to Australia however as he will only join the Newcastle Knights, alongside Huddersfield Giants star Will Pryce, in 2024.

Thus, he will spend his final year at the Warriors hoping to add more silverware to the Challenge Cup Final win the Warriors produced against Pryce’s Huddersfield in 2022.

Speaking about the announcement, Wigan Warriors Executive Director admitted the club was disappointed to see him leave the club and that the Warriors had made him “a very attractive” offer.

“We are all disappointed to lose Kai,” Radlinski said.

“Having paid a transfer fee to London Broncos three years ago, our coaches have developed a very raw talent into an international rugby league player.

“We presented Kai with a very attractive and long-term contract. Ultimately, Kai’s desire to go to the NRL was the determining factor.”

He went on to acknowledge that Pearce-Paul will be committed to the club in 2023: “Kai is committed to Wigan for the 2023 season before leaving for Australia at the end of the year. He is an impressive young man who has been a pleasure to work with over the past few years.”

Lastly, he wished him well on his new adventure: “We expect a big year from Kai and then we will wish him well on his new adventure.”
