Wigan Warriors vs Hull KR team news confirmed with three star returnees

Wigan Warriors vs Hull KR

The 21-man squads for Wigan Warriors vs Hull KR have been confirmed – in what will be a huge Super League clash.

The Warriors and the Robins are currently level on points at the top of the Super League table, with KR ahead of points difference.

Therefore, with just two games to go after this Friday’s fixture for both sides, this one could determine the winners of this year’s League Leaders’ Shield.

Wigan are currently the holders of the shield, winning it on points difference after an unprecedented three-way tie for themselves, St Helens and Catalans Dragons on 40 points last year.

Matt Peet said of the trophy, speaking to club media: “It’s a great indicator of consistency, depth in squad and quality of preparation. It’s still an unbelievable achievement and whichever team wins it will be really proud.”

Meanwhile, this would be Hull KR’s first-ever League Leaders’ Shield if they were to get over the line.

Peet was full of praise for them getting this far: “They deserve all the credit they’re getting. They’ve been really consistent, they’ve been excellent both sides of the ball and they’ve been good to watch.

“They’ve worked hard on and off the pitch to earn what they’re enjoying.”

Bevan French’s return was, overall, a successful one against Catalans Dragons, and he is again named in the squad, hoping to get one step closer to full fitness and quality.

Harry Smith and Liam Farrell are returnees for this one, while Jacob Douglas and Kiam McDermott drop out.

SMith has served his three-game suspension, while Farrell appears to be over his calf issue.

Brad O’Neill (knee), Willie Isa (ankle) and Mike Cooper (head) all remain out.

Sauaso Sue suffered a nasty knock to the nether regions in the last game but is included in the 21-man squad.

Meanwhile, James Batchelor returns to the squad, replacing George King in the only change for Willie Peters’ side after their victory over Salford Red Devils last week.
