Wigan Warriors suffer huge triple blow

Wigan Warriors

Wigan Warriors may have progressed into the last eight of the Challenge Cup but the Warriors are now facing a tough period after their win over Leeds Rhinos.

Coach Matt Peet said the Warriors are now going to have to draw on their academy after losing Willie Isa and Kai Pearce-Paul for “months” whilst Peet also gave an update on Ethan Havard who went off injured in the cup win.

“It is a long one for Willie Isa. We’re talking months. Kai Pearce-Paul is similar, we lost him in training yesterday and obviously we have just Ethan Havard so we are in one of those periods where we are going to have to draw on our academy and our pathways and that is what we’re all about.”

Asked how long it will be for Pearce-Paul, he said: “It is his leg, he’s going to be eight weeks.”

Meanwhile, on Ethan Havard, Peet said:

“I was told he has dislocated his elbow but will need a scan. That was hot off the field if you like so it could be something different but that was the immediate feedback I got.”

Nonetheless, the Warriors can look forward to the next round of the Challenge Cup.
