Wigan Warriors, St Helens, Hull KR and Huddersfield Giants: Which Challenge Cup semi-final team is leading ticket sales?

The Men’s Challenge Cup semi-finals are upon us this weekend as Wigan Warriors take on St Helens and Huddersfield Giants do battle with Hull KR.

Leeds Rhinos Women and St Helens Women take up the mantle first in their Challenge Cup Final and then it is time for the Men’s clash, starting with Wigan and Saints at 2.30pm.

Huddersfield then take on Hull KR at 5pm with Rovers leading the ticket sales so far – and KR boss Tony Smith is not surprised at all by that news.

“It’s not surprising,” Smith told the club’s Youtube channel.

“Our fans didn’t have the chance to be at that big match last year obviously being overseas so I’m not surprised we have the biggest crowd turnout out of the six teams that are playing on Saturday.

“Good on them, I hope we can make them cheer a lot and make them proud and they can help us.

“I’m looking forward to a great occasion.”

However, Smith and KR will have to do without a number of their stars, including Matt Parcell, Matty Storton and Frankie Halton.

But, the prognosis on Sam Wood – who suffered an injury against Leeds Rhinos last week – is better than first thought.

“We were fearful of an ACL, but fortunately it’s not, it’s a dislocation of the patella,” Smith continued to tell the club’s Youtube channel.

“That’s not nearly as bad. That’s a matter of weeks rather than months.

“It’s great news for Sammy, and great news for his teammates. Hopefully we will have him back in action soon.”
