Wigan Warriors captain Liam Farrell has shared his gratitude for the outstanding Warriors support from Las Vegas as well as closer to home.
He also looked ahead to the Warriors’ Challenge Cup clash against Hull FC this weekend.
Farrell shared his thoughts post-match after Wigan grabbed their third victory on the bounce on Sunday afternoon, beating Huddersfield Giants 44-18.
Reflecting on the win over Huddersfield, Farrell told the Warriors website: “It was a very good win in the end against a Huddersfield side who turned up and caused us a lot of problems.
“Our aim was to put a smile on our supporters’ faces, especially those who couldn’t get out to Vegas, and we were able to deliver that in a difficult game.
“It was an outstanding effort from the club and the fans.”
Farrell himself managed to grab two tries in the victory, taking him to a total of 145 tries for the Warriors.
That sees him go level with Henderson Gill on Wigan’s all-time try scorer chart.
On his tries, he added: “They were opportunists’ tries, but they all add to the tally.
“I’m happy with the tries but even more happy with the win as we’ve been able to score over 40 points again.
“We are disappointed to have conceded the two in the first half, but it was a pleasing win.”
As well as his praise for the team, he also mentioned Harry Smith’s game management and kicking game, which he thought won them the game.
He said: “Harry’s a very classy half-back. He controlled the game really well and his two 40/20’s turned the game massively in our favour.
“He produces big plays in big moments and having someone like him in your team is very handy.”
The Wigan Warriors captain also looked forward to their Challenge Cup tie with Hull FC on Saturday but was expecting the Black and Whites to be trying to right a wrong.
Wigan beat Hull FC 46-6 in the Super League back in round two, just a fortnight ago.
He finished: “The Challenge Cup holds a special place in our hearts with recent memories.
“It will be special if we can get as far in the competition this time around, and that’s something we are looking forward to.
“I’m sure we’ll have a tougher task on our hands against Hull FC this time around as they’d have been disappointed with the last match.”
Wigan Warriors v Hull FC will be live on the BBC on Saturday 15th March, with a 5:45pm kick-off time.
