Wigan Warriors respond to key ban ahead of Hull FC fixture

Matt Peet Wigan Warriors

Adam Keighran of Wigan Warriors was handed a one-match Penalty Notice for a Grade B ‘Dangerous Throw/Lift’ after their derby win over St Helens.

This comes just over a month after being handed a three-game ban and getting a red card for a shoulder charge on Arron Lindop.

For the latest charge, he is banned for the Warriors’ fixture against Hull FC at the weekend.

However, St Helens’ Matty Lees did not receive any further punishment to his sin-bin.

Elsewhere, the Match Review Panel issued Andre Savelio a two-match penalty notice for Grade D Head Contact after a high shot on Robbie Mulhern.

Sam Hewitt of the Giants also got a two-match ban for Grade D punching, while Edwin Ipape of Leigh Leopards, from that game, has a Grade B Dangerous Contact charge and will miss a game.

Wigan Warriors appeal Adam Keighran ban

The Warriors have decided to appeal his ban, and if successful, he’ll be free to play against the struggling Hull FC side.

The decision will be made by the RFL’s Operational Rules Tribunal tonight, where Wigan will learn his fate.

Also being discussed at the Tribunal are:

Zack McComb of Halifax Panthers, facing a Grade F charge for Unacceptable Language/Behaviour; Kyle Kesik of Keighley Cougars, given Grade E Head Contact; and Danny Craven of Oldham, who was given a Grade E for abuse of a match official, which he denies.

Keighran has been almost ever-present for the Warriors this year, and has often been the side’s designated goal-kicker.

Keighran has six tries to his name this year and will be a key member of the Warriors’ hopes of defending their League Leaders’ Shield and Grand Final victory.
