Wigan Warriors prop joins Championship club in short-term deal

We’ve seen a lot of Super League players who are not getting game time make short term switches recently.

Morgan Escare spent two weeks at Wakefield before doing something similar at Barrow as one of a number of Salford players to move away on loan.

Meanwhile Wakefield centre Jack Croft has today joined Barrow on a two-week loan to replace the suspended Hakim Miloudi with the centre set of at least an eight-match ban.

Now Widnes have got in on the action drafting in Wigan prop Ramon Silva on a two-week loan from the Wigan Warriors who face Wakefield on Sunday in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals.

This isn’t the first time they’d done so signing Eribe Doro from Warrington on an initial short term loan which was then extended to a season long arrangement. A successful deal, they’ve now turned to Silva from another top Super League side.

The 20-year-old versatile forward joined Wigan ahead of 2022 but with the Warriors in fine form and with a healthy squad, opportunities for the future prospect have been hard to come by so a loan move is a good chance for him to get some game time and prove his worth to Matt Peet.

The former London Broncos player could give Widnes a boost after their fast start to the season has subsided in recent weeks with the Vikings losing to Newcastle Thunder on Monday in front of the Premier Sports cameras.
