Wigan Warriors have launched their charity third kit for 2025 with the shirt paying tribute to Liam Marshall’s mum, who sadly passed away earlier this year.
£5 from every shirt sold will be donated to the Wigan & Leigh Hospice, a local charity that provides support and care to those diagnosed with an illness that is no longer curable.
Regrettably, the mother of Wigan Warriors winger Liam was one of those to need the services of the charity with Debbie sadly passing away at the hospice earlier this year.
The club’s new third shirt for the 2025 season will now pay tribute to her with ‘Debbie’ printed on the side of each shirt, and funds from each shirt going to help fund the hospice.

On his club supporting a charity that means so much to him, Liam Marshall said: “My family and I are, and always will be, incredibly grateful and appreciative for everything Wigan did as a club at the beginning of this year with regards to my Mum.
“It is very fitting that this year’s Charity Partner is Wigan & Leigh Hospice, as this is where my Mum spent her final hours, and to have her memory and legacy remembered on a Wigan kit is an incredible gesture.
“We cannot thank the Hospice enough for their care and support in our darkest hours and we will be forever grateful to them. Being able to support them this way feels right.”

The shirt itself is lilac in colour, matching that of the Wigan & Leigh Hospice logo, whilst there is a daisy print on the sleeve stream, something that is also emblazoned on the hospice’s logo.
A limited run of 1,500 shirts will be available and with £5 of each sale going to the charity, a total of £7,500 will be raised should Wigan Warriors sell out which is an incredible amount for a local charity doing brilliant work.
Quoted in the club’s statement announcing the shirt, the hospice’s Chief Executive, Jo Carby, said: “Being chosen as Wigan Warriors’ Charity of the Year for their 2025 season is a big honour, and it’s all the more special knowing the impact our services have had on Liam Marshall and his family.
“Like Wigan Warriors, Wigan & Leigh Hospice is rooted in this community and it is the community’s support that continues to keep our services going. Every year, hundreds of families like Liam’s are supported by the hospice, and we know what a difference our services make.”
Club Chief Executive, Kris Radlinski, explained why it was so important for Wigan Warriors to ensure they made the Wigan & Leigh Hospice their chosen charity for 2025, outlining how important Liam Marshall and his family are to the club.
Radlinski said: “Liam is the heartbeat of our club, his spirit and passion uplift us all. When he’s hurting, we all feel it deeply. The strength he showed in 2024, even as he went through such a challenging time, speaks volumes about his incredible character.
“We wanted to do something meaningful for him and his family, to help keep his mum’s memory alive in a way that would matter. The amazing angels at Wigan & Leigh Hospice have touched so many lives in our Community, including ours, and it’s an honour for us to support them through 2025.
“This is our way of giving back, of standing together for Liam and everyone who has felt their care.”
