Wigan Warriors’ Matt Peet expecting “challenging” game against “desperate” Wakefield Trinity

Wigan meet familiar foes Wakefield today looking to further cement their standing in second in the table after both third place Huddersfield and fourth place Catalans lost earlier this weekend.

It will also give them a chance to keep up with Champions St Helens who play Hull FC today. So a big game for Wigan but especially for Wakefield who are hoping to open up a four-point gap between themselves and Toulouse at the bottom.

This had got Wigan boss Matt Peet very wary of today’s game as he outlined when speaking to Wigan TV.

He said he expected a game that was less than straightforward with Wakefield set to give them a unique challenge due to their desperation to avoid relegation: “We’ve played them a few times already this year so we do know it’s always tough.

“They have so much talent and the game’s never straight forward. I know last time we played them we got off to a great start but the game had a few swings and momentum swings in it.

“We’ve got to prepare for the best of Wakefield a desperate team who will have everything on the line.

“It’s going to be challenging and their 17 players are going to be fighting for survival and their club’s a proud one so we’ve got to be enthusiastic and committed first and foremost.”
