Wigan Warriors have been dealt some catastrophic news in terms of injuries, with four of their key players set to miss multiple weeks of action.
One of those players is Bevan French, who has suffered another hamstring injury, only this time it is on the opposite leg.
The former Man of Steel has only played nine games this season, with four of those coming since his return from the original hamstring blow at the Challenge Cup Final.
Peet confirmed the news of French’s injury to Sky Sports at a media event at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium, home of Magic Weekend, this afternoon.
The Wigan head coach also revealed that Luke Thompson will miss six weeks with a foot issue that saw him leave the field in the win over Hull FC.
Young winger Noah Hodkinson has fractured his skull, so will be another long-term casualty, whilst skipper Liam Farrell is out for around a month.
The news comes at the same time that forward Ethan Havard is injured and Sam Walters is suspended, so Wigan’s pack will be seriously tested against St Helens at Magic Weekend.
In terms of replacements, Sam Eseh is expected to start the game, whilst Kaide Ellis or Oliver Partington could move into the front row.
Lukas Mason could potentially debut in the back row, whilst Taylor Kerr is expected to get a game in light of those injuries.
