Wigan Warriors will begin their ‘big-picture’ work in the coming weeks claims one player after the return of the club’s overseas stars.
The Super League champions are back at full strength after the likes of Bevan French, Jai Field, Patrick Mago and other overseas stars have returned to training following an off-season Down Under.
It means that everyone is in house and ready to go as they bid to continue their incredible run of winning trophies with Matt Peet’s side having picked up the last six possible pieces of silverware available to them.
Sadly, their and Penrith’s involvement in Las Vegas means that they will not defend their World Club Challenge trophy but the excitement is still there for the game against Warrington Wolves in Sin City.
One of the returning players, Adam Keighran, spoke to club media about how he’ll be ticking off a bucket list item in heading stateside, explaining: “I’m yet to visit America but it’s always been on the bucket list.
“To start with Las Vegas will be an unreal welcome to the States.”

Keighran had also spoke on the harsh reality of returning to pre-season that is the British winter with temperatures having dipped below freezing during this latest cold freeze. Despite that, he spoke on the warm welcome he had in his first year with Wigan Warriors.
“It’s quite the difference,” he said of the weather, adding: “As a family, we were made to feel a part of the Club straight away, and now we have many close friends in the sporting environment and out. Last year was an unreal debut season and I’m looking forward to the campaign ahead.”
Another man who can’t wait to get the 2025 campaign started now that the likes of Keighran and the other overseas stars are back is Liam Marshall – Super League’s top try-scorer in 2024.
Speaking to club media, he said: “It’s good to have them back. Obviously, we’ve not seen them in a while as they’ve been back home in Australia.
“They’re a big part of what we do – not just because of the ability they have and the positions they play but because they’re big characters in the team as well.”
Going forward, it means that pre-season can be taken up a notch – something that is required given that the start of the Super League season is just over four weeks away.
“It’s nice to have them back and I think the squad is coming to and has everyone back together now so we can start doing more big-picture things as a team.
“It’s an exciting time, games are only around the corner so we’ve got a few things to put in place before we play our first pre-season games.”
