James Small-Edwards was perhaps always destined for greatness having parents like rugby league legend Shaun Edwards and musician Heather Small.
But, they probably wouldn’t have predicted that James, who was on the books at Wasps as a youngster, would have turned to politics.
If you hadn’t have noticed, there has also been local council elections taking place with the Conservatives taking a battering throughout the country as Labour and the Liberal Democrats turn on the heat.
One of those councils in Westminster is Bayswater, which James Small-Edwards will now sit in as a Labour councillor after ousting the Conservative ward and turning it ‘red’ for the first time since the 1980s.
He wrote on Twitter: “Absolutely delighted to have won Bayswater from the Conservatives, turning the ward red for the first time since the 1980s. Thanks so much to my family, friends and fellow candidates for all the love and support over the past few months!”
Edwards, of course, played for Wigan between 1983 and 1997 before turning to rugby union to coach – he is now currently France’s defence coach.
