This week we shift focus from Super League to the Challenge Cup as Wigan Warriors and Hull KR meet at the home of Leeds Rhinos Headingley Stadium whilst the home of Warrington Wolves plays host to the other semi-final between Leigh Leopards and St Helens.
The game at Headingley feels all about the fairytale for Hull KR as they look to replicate their semi-final heroics in Leeds against Warrington back in 2015.
However, Wigan are chasing Challenge Cup trophy number 21 and a second successive Challenge Cup.
But what about the team news can we expect from Wigan Warriors.
Matt Peet said: “Similar to Willie [Peters] potentially, but we’ll see how everyone comes through training.
“We haven’t really got stuck into our tougher training days yet, it’ll be a Sunday game, so there won’t be too much change.
“Fortunately we came through the Warrington game unscathed and avoided any bans as well, so positive.
“There’s selection headaches every week, trust me, there’s always lads who feel like they should be in the team and putting a case forward, so yeah, there’s more and the more we have the better.
“There’ll be some lads who miss out this week who’ve been playing a bit, and that’s what you want and need, you know. Plenty more rugby to be played, so I think it’s more people putting their hand up to get one of the 13 or one of the 17 shirts the better.”
He also underlined how much he loves weeks like this:
“Yeah, I love it. I love it. It’s why you do it. It’s what you talk about from day one of pre-season. It’s what you talk about when you’re doing your recruitment, your retention, who can perform in the big games, and staff as well as players.
“So all your training is planned to peak for these occasions. Hull KR will be no different and the same thing with the other semi-final, these are the games that every player and every coach wants to be involved in.”
The Warriors are hoping to get to Wembley for the first time since 2017 with last year’s final taking place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
