Wigan Warriors latest to push wheelchair rugby league after huge Leeds Rhinos success in promoting game

Wheelchair rugby league is ready to “explode” after England won the World Cup Final against France.

That is the view of former St Helens star Jon Wilkin speaking about the final which saw England edge France 28-24 in one of the best games you’ll see in the men’s, women’s or wheelchair games.

It was a showcase of how good the sport in and in light of England’s success it sounds like there is set to be a big boom.

Leeds Rhinos have pushed the game plenty after some of their stars, including skipper and scorer of the winning try Tom Halliwell, featured in the final win for England and almost all of their taster sessions have been booked up this week.

Now Wigan Warriors, who are a member of the Super League competition alongside Champions Halifax Panthers and plenty of other recognisable teams, have done their bit to promote the sport further.

They’re promoting a free taster session alongside the squad and World Cup winners Dec Roberts and Adam Rigby.

It comes after the RFL confirmed that their local club finder had been the busiest it has ever been as people’s interest in all form of rugby league sparks but expect wheelchair rugby league to grow even more than any thing else over the next few months.
