Wigan Warriors kit distributor goes into administration as club declare it’s ‘out of our control’

Wigan Warriors have tweeted out news that their UK distributor, Elite Sports, have gone into administration.

The Warriors kit is produced by Hummel but supplied by the distributor Elite Sports and with the company going into administration, they’ve had their stock and players training clothing seized at port.

In a statement on twitter the club explained the situation that could lead to Christmas shortages.

“Elite Sports is a UK distributor of the Hummel brand. Last week, Elite Sports entered into administration.

“A large portion of our retail stock and players training clothing has been retained at the port in the UK until administrators navigate a way forward.

“We are working around the clock to attempt to get stock in our store before Christmas but this is very much out of our control at this stage.

“We will communicate this to our fans once we have a clear way forward.

“We ask that you remain calm and respectful to our retail staff at this difficult time.”

Wigan have had their kits produced by Hummel since the 2020 season, with the clubs unveiling their 2023 home and away kits in October.

Both jerseys went down a storm with the Warriors faithful as they stuck with a traditional home shirt, and a slick away kit – with sales predicted to be high before Christmas.

The club have also released an array of new training gear alongside the home and away kits, this includes shirts, shorts and vests.

As mentioned, the situation is out of the club’s control and it remains unclear how this will be resolved with the festive season fast approaching.
