Wigan Warriors’ John Bateman takes swipe at Sky Sports

Sky Sports are integral to the sport of rugby league – and pretty much to every sport in the land.

With Channel 4 and Premier Sports adding to the rugby league coverage in 2022, there have been more viewers than ever tuning in to watch the sport.

However, for the past two weeks, there has been no Sky Sports coverage on a Thursday night, despite the fact that the football season has ended with such a wide gap there going unfilled.

And, for one current Super League star, he cannot understand the decision not to show rugby league to try and grow the sport.

That man is Wigan Warriors star John Bateman who wants Sky Sports to cover more rugby league.

Bateman tweeted: “No football on sky for a couple of weeks, so sky go and take Thursday night rugby league off……… get more games on and get more eyes on the game.”

Sky will be back live tonight with Salford Red Devils hosting Bateman’s team Wigan, with Catalans Dragons hosting Hull FC on Saturday evening which will also be covered live on the broadcasting channel.

Sky will be hosting England’s fixture with the Combined Nations All Stars next weekend with Thursday night returning the week after.
