Wigan Warriors boss Matt Peet has revealed that both Bevan French and Luke Thompson will be included in the squad for this week’s clash with Wakefield Trinity.
The Warriors travel to Wakefield after their dramatic last minute win over Huddersfield Giants last Saturday, with Jack Farrimond scoring the winning try in the closing minutes of the contest. Farrimond, who Wigan have high hopes for, was given the chance to impress in French’s absence.
French was suffering with a tight calf that ensured he wasn’t risked in Dewsbury, but Peet has high hopes that he’ll return to the action in time to travel to Belle Vue.
Peet will also be hoping to see Thompson given the green light after missing their last two games with a rib injury.
“They’ll be in the 21,” Peet confirmed in his pre-match press conference, per Wigan Warriors’ media. “Bevan we’re hoping will play, but it’s early in the week yet. Luke has done a bit of contact in training today so hopefully he pulls through the rest of the week.”

Peet will be looking for an improved performance from his side this week after last Saturday’s scare but they know Wakefield will be reeling from Sunday’s loss to Leigh Leopards on home soil.
Daryl Powell’s side will be fired up as they bid to return to winning ways and bolster their play-off hopes and Wigan would be right to be wary of the challenge that awaits them.
“It will be a tough trip for a few reasons, but particularly because they are a good, well-coached team,” Peet added. “Hopefully you’ll see some good rugby from both teams, and I’m just hoping we can find something like our best form which is what it’ll take.
“They are known for an exciting brand of rugby with skilful outside backs, but also a tough forward pack. Every game I’ve watched they’ve been right in it and there’s been periods where they’ve been sensational.
“We’ve got to be aware that period could come at some point, and we’ve got to weather that the best we can in the hope it won’t last too long.”
