Wigan Warriors in superb award initiative for local side

Wigan Warriors have always been a club that has community value at its core.

The club does extensive work in the community, helping out youth rugby league sides as well as establishing a much revered presence around the town.

And, the Warriors took that a step further last night, handing a long-time servant of local side Chorley Panthers an award for the recognition of his work.

The Chorley Panthers posted on their Instagram page: “A surprise award last night for one of the clubs founding fathers. A little bit of recognition for all his time and effort over the years at the club. The Community Club Heroes award presented to him by the Wigan Warriors, to Petes great delight being the old enemy on his door step quite literally! Greatly deserved and a big well done.”

New head coach Matt Peet has already underlined his desire to reconnect with former Wigan players as well as enjoy a more active presence in the community and things such as this will undoubtedly enamour the club further in the town where there is already a huge support for all things Warriors.
