Wigan Warriors forward confirms departure as move to rival looms

Joe Bullock of Wigan Warriors celebrates his try

Joe Bullock has confirmed his exit from Wigan Warriors.

The flame-haired enforcer has been at the DW Stadium for the past three seasons, but found chances limited in 2021 due to injury.

Bullock came through the Wigan academy as a youngster, but never made a first-team appearance – instead, the former winger went on-loan to South Wales Scorpions before joining Leigh.

Just seven appearances over a period of two years later and Bullock made a home – and a name – for himself at the Barrow Raiders.

The 28-year-old made over 100 appearances for the Raiders before Adrian Lam came calling at the Warriors.

He played just shy of 50 games for Wigan over that three-year period and is widely expected to be joining Warrington Wolves under the new era of Daryl Powell.

Bullock took to Instagram to show how disappointed he was with how his time at Wigan came to an end.

“Not the ending to the season we all wanted, or to my time with the club but can’t be more thankful the opportunity’s I’ve been provided over the last 3 years. Thanks to all the players and fans who’ve made my time here as enjoyable as it’s been! Good luck to all the boys leaving and hopefully see you all in the future!
