Wigan Warriors fans convinced Owen Farrell is joining the club

Wigan Warriors are your Super League Champions with a star studded squad.

But the Cherry and Whites are set for some major exits in the off season. The Champions will see Toby King return to Warrington Wolves after a loan spell at the club which yielded the Super League title.

Cade Cust and Sam Powell are both headed for the exit door as is Kai Pearce-Paul.

The Warriors have also drafted in a number of major signings however. Adam Keighran has replaced Toby King, Sam Walters arrives from Leeds Rhinos to replace Kai Pearce-Paul as well as former Dream Team hooker Kruise Leeming.

Their biggest signing is of course Luke Thompson. The 2019 Harry Sunderland Award winner and former St Helens star returns to Super League after a spell in the NRL.

It is now believed that he will replace Canberra Raiders bound Morgan Smithies.

But now, after the conclusion of the Rugby Union World Cup, many believe that Wigan could sign Owen Farrell, son of two time Man of Steel Andy Farrell – a Wigan legend.

One fan even took to asking the Mole:

“@9_Moley apparently few rumours doing the rounds Owen Farrell to Wigan Warriors 2year monster deal replacing smithies who has gone to raiders???”

One fan wasn’t sure: “I feel like this Owen Farrell to Wigan rumour could become Rugby League’s version of the Wesley Sneijder to Manchester United rumour that came around every year but never materialised.”

Another fan joked:

“Hope Owen Farrell does a post game interview, rips his England shirt off and underneath is the new Wigan home shirt for 2024, and he tells the Union media to fuck right off.”

Many fans are desperate to see him in Cherry and White:

“Owen Farrell not appreciated at all by the Rah Rah fans. One of England’s greatest players and currently the best player on the pitch. They hate him because he has a Northern accent…
Looking forward to seeing him turn his back on Union and join the mighty Wigan in League.”

Another underlined the desire to see Farrell replace Smithies:

“With Smithies going. Owen Farrell would look perfect in the #13 shirt.”
