Wigan Warriors Women have dominated selections in the race for the ‘Woman of Steel’ voting, with the side taking up seven of the 10 selections in the initial shortlist.
The Warriors, who have won every trophy going since the start of the 2025 season, are unbeaten to start 2026 and emerged as Challenge Cup winners at Wembley in May after a complete domination of St Helens.
As a result of their efforts, seven of their players have been selected in the initial shortlist, whilst players from Huddersfield Giants, St Helens and Leeds Rhinos round out the top 10.
The system is similar to the Man of Steel voting, in which Leeds’ Lachie Miller is currently leading before the panel meet again after Round 18.
For the women, a five-strong panel have met to produce an initial shortlist, and not only do Wigan have seven players involved, they take up every position in the current top five.
As it stands, half-back Jenna Foubister leads the way after a superb Player of the Match performance at Wembley.
She is joined by Megan Williams in second and winger Anna Davies in third. Centre and captain Georgia Wilson takes fourth, whilst last year’s Woman of Steel, Eva Hunter, lines up in fifth.
Fellow Warriors players Izzy Rowe and Mary Coleman are the two other Wigan players in contention.
Elsewhere, Huddersfield’s Amelia Brown, Leeds’ Connie Boyd and St Helens’ Faye Gaskin round out the top 10.
The panel will meet again after round seven (July 21) and round 13 (September 15) before one final meeting at the end of the season to decide on an eventual winner.
