Wigan Warriors have confirmed their squad numbers for the 2025 season with 16 players retaining the same number from 2024.
The champions have handed out a total of 33 shirts meaning that just shy of half of the players have retained their number from the 2024 season.
Among those obvious ones who don’t change are the likes of Jai Field (One) and Harry Smith (Seven) but there are big changes in the forward pack as both Luke Thompson and Junior Nsemba break into the starting 13.
Of course, squad numbers don’t correlate directly to a club’s first-choice team but they’re a big indicator and it’s clear to see why the likes of Thompson and Nsemba were rewarded after stellar 2024 campaigns for each of them.
They would both go on to make the Super League Dream Team and represent England against Samoa at Headingley and now, they’ll wear numbers to (Thompson) and 11 (Nsemba) in 2025.
Wigan Warriors lock in squad numbers for 2025
Confirmation of the squad numbers came with a statement on the Wigan Warriors club website with the club confirming numbers one through 34, although only handing them to 33 players with the number 18 assigned to the away support.
Willie Isa moves from shirt number 11 to 14 whilst Liam Byrne moves to 16 as a result of Nsemba and Thompson’s switches.
There are new squad numbers for Sam Walters (21), Zach Eckersley (22), Tom Forber (23), Jack Farrimond (24), Jacob Douglas (26), Harvey Makin (27) and Tiaki Chan (28).
New signing George Hirst from Oldham takes shirt number 34.
