Wigan Warriors CEO talks commitment to fans ahead of Vegas game

Wigan Warriors CEO Kris Radlinski celebrating

Wigan Warriors CEO Kris Radlinski has spoken to fans ahead of their marquee Super League fixture in Las Vegas.

The Warriors will play Warrington on Sunday night as part of a four-match event, featuring two NRL games and an international fixture between Australia and England Women.

Radlinski has been working on getting a Super League fixture in the USA since last season’s NRL trip there.

In a statement on Wigan’s website, he wanted to stress that this fixture is a celebration for his entire club and the rest of Super League.

He said: “Ten months ago, I sent an email—cheekily, I admit—asking if our Club could play a game of rugby league in Las Vegas.

Now, as thousands of fans make their final preparations for this incredible journey across the world, I just want to take a moment to say thank you.”

He touched on why Wigan is rooted in its community and why they wanted to try a game further afield once again, following their Australia trip in 2018.

He added: “I’m very aware that just last week, in our game against Leigh, we stood together to support local communities and challenge the inequalities in our society.

“And now, in the next breath, we’re heading to America.

“On the surface, that may seem contradictory, and I accept that but the truth is, if our sport doesn’t dare to try new things, we risk being left behind.

“And that’s something we simply cannot accept—we care about this game too much.”

He’s excited at the prospect of bringing Super League to the Americans but also wanted to show his appreciation to the Wigan fans, whether they’re travelling to Las Vegas or not.

He said: “There’s no doubt that this match has captured the imagination—if I’m honest, even more than I anticipated.

“So, we must embrace it. I want to express my deep gratitude to those who have invested so much to be part of this moment.

“I also want to acknowledge those who, for many different reasons, cannot make the trip. Please know that you are very much in our thoughts.

“When we pull on our jerseys in Vegas, we do it for every single one of you—our fans around the World and for the entire Super League.

“It’s time for our sport to get the recognition it deserves.”

Wigan have definitely been the team to beat both on and off the field in recent years, showing that investment in many areas of the club can produce positive results on the pitch.

The Wigan Warriors CEO Radlinski shared his well wishes for those attending the game and wanted fans watching at home to feel valued too.

He finished: “To everyone travelling, I wish you safe journeys and hope you create memories that last a lifetime. And to those at home, we’ll be back soon – No matter where we are, we represent you, always.”

Wigan will face Warrington on Saturday evening at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, with a 9.30pm UK kick-off time.
