Wigan Warriors boss Matt Peet has confirmed Sam Eseh’s loan to Hull FC is ‘indefinite’. Eseh’s switch to the MKM Stadium was announced on Monday with the prop joining a severely depleted Black and Whites pack.
He looks set to make his debut for the club on Sunday when Simon Grix takes his side to Leigh Leopards and he’ll be keen to impress as he picks up more crucial experience at the top level. The former Wakefield Trinity man has already had spells with Castleford Tigers and Leeds Rhinos this season, making five appearances for the Headingley club before being recalled last month.
He showed promise at Headingley and Hull FC will be hoping that the 21-year-old, who joins fellow loanees Leon Ruan and Tiaki Chan in the pack, will be able to help them pick up the points they need to avoid finishing bottom of Super League this season.
Peet, though, as confirmed that Wigan have the ability to recall him at any stage over the final seven weeks of the campaign, should they find themselves short of options.
“It’s indefinitely,” Peet said per Love Rugby League. “So we have got the opportunity to call him back but we brought him back (from Leeds) with a view to that we might need him in this period.
“But we came through that Huddersfield game pretty healthy so we’ve given him that opportunity but we’re aware that we might need him back at some point.”
Eseh still has a year left to run on the two-year deal he signed with Wigan last October. As such, the prop will be keen to catch the eye of the Cherry and Whites’ head coach as he strives to work his way into his plans at the Brick Community Stadium.
