Wigan Warriors and Zak Hardaker have been in the news quite a lot recently.
With the former Wigan man previously dropped by head coach Matty Peet, Hardaker and the club bid farewell last week as a quick move to Leeds Rhinos ensued.
Since then, Hardaker and Leeds have dominated the headlines, but his move means that the Lancashire club now have space on their salary cap.
That being said, Peet and the club are in no rush.
“There’s no real rush,” Peet told the Manchester Evening News.
“I hope I’m not going to have answer this question every week but we’ve got space now – though me or the club aren’t in any sort of rush.”
When asked about Hardaker’s departure, Peet said: “All I know is that Zak has moved on and we’ve moved on. It wasn’t easy to say goodbye to Zak but it became a simple decision to make, if that makes sense.”
Wigan go up against Warrington Wolves on Friday night which is the last fixture before they head to Elland Road to take on St Helens in the Challenge Cup semi-final.
Peet has named an unchanged squad for Friday’s fixture at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, with Brad Singleton expected to come back into the side.
