Wigan Warriors boss Matty Peet reveals his view on having the Challenge Cup Final at Tottenham rather than Wembley

The Challenge Cup Final will be at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for one year only as Wigan Warriors get ready to take on Huddersfield Giants in a mouthwatering tie.

Wembley will not host this year’s final because it is being used for the Championship football play-offs as, ironically, Huddersfield Town take on Nottingham Forest for a place in the Premier League.

For Wigan head coach Matty Peet, taking the fixture somewhere different means it will always be remembered and he cannot wait to get there.

“Wembley is special but when you go to one of these new grounds for a one-off game you you know it will be remembered forever,” Peet told the RFL website.

“It’s a marvellous arena, state of the art and I think everyone is excited to get in there and have a look at it.”

Of course, his opposite number Ian Watson will also be hoping for a dream come true considering the fact that the last time he got to the Challenge Cup Final was in 2020 in front of absolutely no one at Wembley.

That was due to Covid-19 with Salford Red Devils going down that day to Leeds Rhinos, but this promises to be a large crowd on Saturday.
