Wigan Warriors head coach Matt Peet has given his final thoughts and comments ahead of the Super League Grand Final.
A win would see Wigan Warriors earn all four pieces of silverware in the same season, becoming the first team to do so since themselves back in 1994, three full decades ago.
They would only be the sixth team in history to accomplish the feat but more incredibly, victory would mark the sixth consecutive piece of silverware that Wigan Warriors have picked up.
That dates back to the League Leaders Shield in 2023 with Hull KR being the team preventing them from winning the Challenge Cup that season too. They now take on Hull KR looking to make history.
What Wigan Warriors boss said minutes before the Grand Final
Now Matt Peet has spoken to Sky Sports‘ Jenna Brooks ahead of the game to give his final thoughts on the match.
It’s been raining all day in Manchester making for greasy conditions at Manchester but Peet says it’s something that his side have accounted for.
He explained: “We knew going into the Grand Final that weather could be a factor. There’s always been a bit of a drizzle, so I don’t think it’s going to be all that surprising.”
Speaking on star man Bevan French, Peet was relaxed about his the Australian’s relaxed attitude: “I’ve been with him plenty of years now, I know what he’s like before a game, pretty chill though. He probably doesn’t enjoy warming up too much, so I think he’s good to go.
One of the biggest narratives coming into the game has been about te experience of Wigan Warriors compared to the inexperience of Hull KR, something that Peet has now dubbed as irrelevant.
“I think it’s irrelevant. It’s about whichever team played best for 80 minutes. Some of our lads have been here before, some haven’t.
“But Hull KR have got players like Peta Hiku who have played in huge games as well, so, whichever team played best will come out on top.”
