Wigan Warriors’ Bevan French breaks silence on his future

Bevan French has lit up Super League for the past few seasons after making the move to the Wigan Warriors back in 2019.

His electrifying pace and eye for a gap has been a constant thorn in Super League sides during that time and his prowess was once more on show last night in the Warriors’ big win over Salford Red Devils.

With a hat-trick in the bank, French was asked by Sky Sports pundit Jenna Brooks where his future lie beyond 2022 and he admitted he will now be thinking about that during his week off.

“I’m not too sure all I wanted to do was get past the Challenge Cup and that was my main goal,” French said on Sky Sports after the game.

“I just want to focus week by week and the cup is out the way now and I feel like I’m getting back to full fitness.

“I’ve got a week off now and that will be a good time to think about it.”

With French on the wing in Wigan’s 30-12 win over Salford, Jai Field was at fullback with the duo carving Salford up on numerous occasions.

“It’s great, we grew up playing against each other back in Australia,” French continued.

“It’s enjoyable, you like to work on combinations but it’s just instinct and you just sniff around him, but you’ve got to be in the right spot in the right time.

“I don’t feel much pressure and I don’t think he does either – when you’re in a squad like this you have trust in the players beside you.”
