Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves show the power of Super League clubs as they do superb charity work

Last week saw Wigan Warriors lend their support to Alcedo Care’s community Christmas appeal.

First team players Ethan Havard and Junior Nsemba joined the Alcedo team at the company’s branch on Beecham Court in Wigan to drive awareness of our festive charitable initiative that aims to collect new and unused toys, toiletries and clothing which will be re-distributed to families and individuals in need in the local community before Christmas.

Alcedo’s distinctive recruitment vehicle has been transformed into a festive grotto for the campaign and we have even enlisted the support of Father Christmas!

In Wigan, the duo from Wigan Warriors encouraged local residents to step into the grotto and enjoy a moment or two of festive cheer with the Alcedo team, while the children were thrilled to meet the big man himself.

It is hoped that everyone who visits the grotto makes a contribution to the campaign with Alcedo happy to collect toys for children of all ages and everyday toiletries and items of clothing including toothpaste, toothbrushes, shower gels, soap, socks, t-shirts and fleeces. Every single item that is collected will be re-distributed in Wigan and across the North West, helping to support those struggling during the traditional season of goodwill.

It comes as Warrington Wolves youngsters climbed the height of Ben Nevis over the w/end at Warrington Youth Zone, raising a fantastic £1722 in the fight against the genetic disorder Rett Syndrome with Reserve Rett.

It again shows the power of Super League clubs.
