Wigan Warriors’ Kruise Leeming and Wire’s Matty Ashton attended the Las Vegas Grand Prix ahead of their showdown in the City of Sin in March.
It’s now less than 100 days until Wigan Warriors take on Warrington Wolves as part of the NRL’s second venture to Las Vegas with four games of rugby league to take place in one day at Allegient Stadium.
Super League involvement was secured by Wigan Warriors’ Chief Executive Kris Radlinski who managed to get Wigan Warriors on the line-up before he then approached Karl Fitzpatrick of Warrington to secure the deal.
It could be a momentous occasion for Super League and both sides have been promoting the event, which is expected to attract possibly over 10,000 English fans, heavily in recent weeks.
The latest such promotion came this past weekend with one player from each side attending the Formula One Grand Prix in Las Vegas, with Kruise Leeming and Matty Ashton the fortunate duo.
Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves stars mix it with celebs at Grand Prix
Images of both players emerged on their and the club’s respective social media accounts with the duo taking in the Las Vegas Grand Prix and then an NFL game at the stadium they will grace in March.
Wigan Warriors hooker Kruise Leeming shared a video of the hospitality at the NFL clash between Las Vegas Raiders and their division rival Denver Broncos with the ex-Leeds man clearly in awe of the stadium.
Posting on his Instagram, Leeming said: “Wow! A massive thank you to the Allegiant Stadium for inviting us to watch the Broncos and Raiders game. This is where Wigan Warriors versus Warrington Wolves will be next year on March 1st. Get your tickets, it’s going to be a great spectacle.”
That game would be won by the Broncos 29-19 but the showpiece event had come earlier in the weekend when the duo watched George Russell win the Formula One.
Celebrities such as Gordon Ramsay, Snoop Dogg and Sylvester Stallone were mixing it at the track alongside the Super League duo.
Recently, Sky Sports’ Brian Carney claimed that those in the sport are still ‘pinching ourselves’ at the fact Super League is headed to Vegas.
Carney added: “We’re expecting north of 10,000 Super League fans, and I say Super League, maybe I should say Rugby League, not just Wigan and Warrington fans to make the trip to Las Vegas. They do not want to miss this occasion.”
