Wigan Warriors and Hull KR squads confirmed as key man to miss Grand Final through injury

Hull KR and Wigan Warriors bosses Willie Peters and Matt Peet have named their squads ahead of the 2024 Super League Grand Final.

The two sides will go head to head on Saturday evening at Old Trafford for Super League glory. Wigan finished on top of the Super League table and beat Leigh Leopards in the semi-finals of the play-offs to reach the Grand Final stage.

Willie Peters’ side were marginally behind the Cherry and Whites in second place and booked their spot in the Grand Final by edging out Warrington Wolves on home soil.

The Hull KR head coach has made one change to his squad for the clash, with Elliot Minchella coming back into the fold after serving a two-match suspension. Minchella missed Rovers’ last regular season game against Leeds Rhinos and after seeing an appeal turned down, he also sat out of the semi-final clash with Warrington.

However, he is expected to lead his KR teammates out of the Old Trafford tunnel on Saturday and that comes as a massive boost to the Robins. However, Minchella replaces Oliver Gildart in the squad, with the centre dropping out through injury.

Gildart has missed KR’s last two games through a rib issue and while Peters was optimistic about his chances of being involved when asked for an update on Monday, the former Wigan man has not been named in KR’s 21-man squad.

His absence will likely see Jack Broadbent selected at centre, having impressed in the role against Warrington last week.

Peet has named an unchanged Wigan squad, with Liam Farrell included after missing last week’s semi-final with a virus. The Cherry and Whites head coach was unable to confirm whether Farrell would be involved when asked earlier in the week, but he has named the skipper in his squad and will give him all the time he needs to prove his fitness.

Wigan Warriors 21-man squad: Jai Field, Abbas Miski, Adam Keighran, Jake Wardle, Liam Marshall, Bevan French, Harry Smith, Ethan Havard, Liam Byrne, Liam Farrell, Kaide Ellis, Patrick Mago, Luke Thompson, Kruise Leeming, Tyler Dupree, Harvie Hill, Junior Nsemba, Sam Walters, Zach Eckersley, Tom Forber, Jake Farrimond.

Hull KR 21-man squad: Peta Hiku, Niall Evalds, Tom Opacic, Ryan Hall, Mikey Lewis, Sauaso Sue, Jez Litten, George King, Dean Hadley, James Batchelor, Elliot Minchella, Matt Parcell, Sam Luckley, Jai Whitbread, Matty Storton, Kelepi Tanginoa, Tyrone May, Joe Burgess, Jack Broadbent, Jack Brown, Danny Richardson.
