Wigan Warriors have released a new badge to commemorate their 150th anniversary.

Born in 1872, the club has become one of the most impressive teams in the rugby league world, winning 22 League Championships, 19 Challenge Cups, four World Club Challenges and over 100 major honours in total.

Wigan was a founding member of the Northern Rugby Football Union back in 2895, following the split from the amateur game that later became rugby union.

The club also released 150 medals to commemorate the year and the writing “Wigan Warriors, Celebrating 150 years of rugby in Wigan, Limited Edition, Run of 150”.

Matt Peet was appointed the new Warriors boss to take them into the new era following the departure of Adrian Lam, whilst Sean O’Loughlin and Lee Briers were handed the assistant coaching reins.

Shaun Wane has also returned to the DW Stadium in a leadership role, with a brand new era on the horizon.
