Wigan Warriors 46-4 Hull KR: Highlights, player ratings and talking points

Wigan Warriors took on Hull KR at the DW Stadium tonight as the hunt for the top four and play-offs heats up.

Wigan set off like a house on fire, storming into a 20-0 lead before Ethan Ryan hit back for the Robins to make it 20-4 at the break.

It was all one-way traffic in the second-half, however, with Wigan storming past their opponents to register a 46-4 win.

Unfortunately for KR, they FOUR men to injury, meaning they had to finish the game with just 12 men.

Highlights

Bevan French’s superb finish from a Jai Field kick was staggering.

Patrick Mago’s first try in 60 games was a joy to behold.

Talking points

1. KR’s bright future

Hull KR may have got walloped by Wigan, but the future is clearly bright for a number of their young stars. Zach Fishwick, Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e, Connor Moore and Charlie Cavanaugh certainly didn’t look out of place in the Rovers side and they all put in a massive shift.

2. Wigan wobbly

Wigan may have put a big score on Hull KR, but their attacking fluidity wasn’t the best with Jai Field throwing out a number of wild passes which was surprising to see. The Warriors missed a lot of chances despite being by far the best team.

3. French x 3

This man really is a try-scoring record at present, with yet another hat-trick for Bevan French to make it 24 tries for the year so far. His speed really does make the difference out wide for Wigan and it is almost a guarantee that he will beat the first man whenever he gets the ball.

4. Underrated Marshall

How underrated is Liam Marshall? The winger excels in every game he plays and he registered a hat-trick against KR tonight with three devastating finishes. Marshall does all the good work unnoticed and should definitely be in the conversation for an England spot at the end of the night.
