Wigan to sign Bevan French – Reports

WWOS in Australia have reported that Wigan are close to securing a deal for Bevan French.

The Parramatta flyer is currently playing in the Canterbury Cup after falling out of favour with the Eels.

Still only 23, French is keen for a new challenge and could move to England this month.

Dan Sarginson will leave Wigan at the end of the season and head coach Adrian Lam wants to add another outside back to his squad.

Although a deal for 2020 is still more likely, French has yet to play a single first-grade game in 2019 and may look for a quick exit.

The Indigenous All Stars representative broke onto the NRL scene in 2016 and scored 19 tries in just 13 games.

Despite failing to keep up with the phenomenal ratio of his first season, French has still posted 35 tries in 47 games for the Eels.

He is still highly rated by the Parramatta supporters and his all-action evasive style could suit Super League.

Wigan have been busy in recent days, securing the marquee signing of another former NRL star, Jackson Hastings, on Monday night.
