Wigan prop set to miss rest of the season

Wigan could be without Ben Flower for the rest of the season after the prop underwent clean-up surgery on his knee.

The Wales international only returned to the Warriors’ squad against Hull KR at the weekend after a lengthy lay-off with a back problem.

Winger Joe Burgess is also a concern and could miss Friday’s home game against Warrington with a pectoral injury.

Joe Burgess could also miss Friday’s visit of Warrington.

That could, however, mean a first start in a Cherry and White shirt for new Australian signing Bevan French.

“He’s (Ben Flower) out with a meniscus issue, he needs an arthroscopy so that will be him out for between four and six weeks,” said  head coach Adrian Lam.

“On top of that, Joe [Burgess] has a pectoral issue. He’s doubtful. We will give him until the captain’s run to see if he’s ok.”
