Wigan forward attracting attention from rival Super League clubs

Wigan Warriors hooker Amir Bourouh has been the subject of interest from Salford Red Devils, as well as other Super League clubs.

That’s according to Rugby League Live, who has claimed that Salford is the likeliest of destinations for the 20-year-old, after Wigan confirmed they would not keeping the hooker.

Bourouh had impressed with Championship side Halifax whilst on-loan earlier on in the season, but he was recalled by Wigan due to mounting injury problems.

However, he has played just seven times for Wigan since making his debut back in 2019 – ironically against Salford – as veteran Sam Powell, Tommy Leuluai and youngster Brad O’Neill appearing in front of Bourouh for the number nine spot in 2021.

The Warriors are, however, set to hand new deals to Powell as well as Willie Isa and Jake Bibby as the rebuild for 2022 speeds up.

Wigan are currently fourth in the Super League table, but lost away at Hull KR on Friday night.
