Widnes embarrass Warrington on social media

Warrington’s media team this afternoon attempted to poke some fun at rivals Widnes on Twitter, only for it to backfire dramatically.

Following the Vikings relegation to the Championship, the annual Easter Cheshire derby is on hold and Warrington will instead face Salford on Good Friday.

And in an attempt to mock their current position in the second tier, the Wolves Twitter page posted a video asking if Widnes were “fine” with the fixture change.

But in an unexpected twist, the Vikings social media team put together 38 seconds of gold which highlighted Warrington’s 64-year wait for a league title.

The video featured numerous Championship’s won by Widnes in that same period, with Wigan’s Grand Final win against the Wolves last year added at the end for good measure.

To the person behind the Vikings’ Twitter page, take a bow!
