Widnes announce another re-signing

Widnes have announced a fourth re-signing of the week, in the shape of back rower Sam Wilde, who has signed a new one-year deal.

The 24-year-old joined the Vikings from Warrington at the start of 2018 and has since made 57 appearances, scoring nine tries.

Wilde follows in the footsteps of Macgraff Leuluai, Owen Buckley and Lloyd Roby, who all signed new deals this week.

“I’ve been here a couple of years now and loved every minute of it, so I can’t wait to be back in with the boys and get going again, he told the Vikings’ website.

“Personally, 2019 was a good year for me. I played in almost every game and I managed to get over the try-line a few times as well so I was pretty happy overall. I’m hoping that I can do more of the same next season.

“With Tim (Sheens) coming in, it’s exciting for me and the lads to be working with a coach like him. We’re building a strong squad for next season, so it’s a year I’m really looking forward to.”
