Why four Super League players were banned by the disciplinary

Four Super League players have been banned by the Match Review Panel.

These include three players from Leigh Leopards’ win over Wakefield Trinity.

Unsurprisingly, Ben Reynolds has been banned for punching whilst Tom Nisbet, who was yellow carded, has also been banned as has Wakefield Trinity’s Liam Hood.

Castleford Tigers’ Liam Watts is also banned.

Here is why:

Liam Watts – One Match Ban:

“Dangerous Contact – Defending player, in or after effecting a tackle, uses any part of their
body forcefully to bend or apply unnecessary pressure to the head and/or neck and/or
spinal column of the tackled player so as to keep the tackled player at a disadvantage in or
after the tackle.”

Liam Hood – One Match Ban:

“Dangerous Contact – A defending player makes contact with an opponent after the ball has
been released by an opponent in a vulnerable position which causes flexion to the head,
neck or spinal column on an attacking player, which poses an unacceptable risk of injury to
that player.”

Ben Reynolds – Two Match Ban:

“Punching – one on one – makes contact with the Head of an opponent”

Tom Nisbet – One Match Ban:

“Dangerous Contact – Defender uses any part of their body forcefully to twist, bend or
otherwise apply pressure to the limb or limbs of an opposing player in a way that involves
an unacceptable risk of injury to that player.”
