Who has the strongest squad in Super League? Ranking the five teams with the best squad depth

They say that it is the team with the best squad who win the trophies, so squad depth might be the biggest asset to any club.

But which team has the strongest squad depth going into 2023?

5. Leigh Leopards
When you sign 10 players for the new season and don’t lose many players as you bring in, you are guaranteed a strong squad and that’s what Leigh will gave in 2023 thanks to the arrival of 10 star players in a variety of positions.

4. Leeds Rhinos
By adding nearly 10 signings to the club, Leeds have plenty of depth. There might be worries over the spine after losing the likes of Zak Hardaker and Jack Walker who make it a little harder to see Richie Myler as an easy backup in the halves. Other than that they have huge depth in other areas like in the pack after signing two props as well as having Derrell Olpherts who is perhaps the best backup winger in Super League.

3. Wigan Warriors
Wigan can always trust their squad and will be able to do so again in 2023 despite some notable departures. They can also rely on a very strong academy too. When you have both Jai Field and Bevan French in your squad, your depth is there for all to see as an argument could be made that Wigan have the best two fullbacks in the league.

2. Huddersfield Giants
Huddersfield have again recruited wisely and have depth in every position so much so it is hard to figure out what their strongest 17 is going into the start of the season with guys like Oliver Wilson and Will Pryce not included in their first 17 squad numbers.

1. St Helens
The Champions are the Champions for a reason and that’s down to the fact that whenever they get an injury they simply turn to the rest of the squad. Even if they seem to have a weakness in the squad, Saints always seem to have a young lad ready and waiting as with Jon Bennison. Their only concern may be in the halves but by having a number of options at fullback, they have the ability to move Jack Welsby into the halves.
