Whitehaven retain forward

League One champions Whitehaven have retained the services of forward Brett Phillips for the 2020 season.

Phillips returned to rugby league in 2019 after two years away from the sport. He previously played for Workington Town and amateur club Seaton Rangers.

The 31-year-old Scottish International scored four tries in 17 matches as he helped Haven win promotion to the Championship.

Phillips said on the club website:  “I’m excited for another year. I enjoyed last season and hopefully we can kick in again next year and enjoy our rugby. I’m looking forward to getting back into the routine and playing rugby again.”

Head coach Gary Charlton who brought Phillips back to the sport last season said “ Brett is a great signing for us. He’s a good player that has experience playing in the Championship and at the highest level with Scotland. Really pleased to see him sign for another season with us.”
