Where the 2026 Super League Grand Final attendance ranks all time after ‘sell-out’

After an incredible Super League Grand Final that saw Wakefield Trinity beat Warrington Wolves, we’re left marvelling at both the on-field action and just how many fans watched the game at Old Trafford.

Wakefield Trinity beat Warrington by a scoreline of 23-10 to become Super League Grand Final winners for the first time in their history, ending a top division league title drought that dates back to 1968 in a game watched by over 70,000 fans.

Super League attendances have been on the up in 2026 with this being the first year that the competition has ever had more than 2,000,000 fans attend live games, however, this year’s Grand Final has broken new ground, with the game confirmed to be a sell-out six hours before kick-off.

The official attendance was confirmed as 71,728 – the fourth-highest in competition history. Having two different teams contest the game, one of whom had never made it to a Super League Grand Final and the other whose last appearance was in 2018, certainly helped.

Both sides took massive crowds and there was also plenty to celebrate for the neutral as well, factors that led to what was a quite simply incredible attendance. There has been debate in recent years about taking the Grand Final away from Old Trafford, in part due to crowd figures, but the 2026 edition has rubbished that argument.

We’ve now looked at exactly how strong the 2026 attendance was in contrast to the previous 28 Grand Finals.

Wonderful Wakefield Trinity, never their year, England debate settled, and more Super League Grand Final talking points
