Where every Super League team could finish with Wigan Warriors and Leeds Rhinos among those competing

Super League trophy

There’s just one round of Super League action to go before we’re into play-off rugby, which means every league position will be decided this week.

Where can your team finish, and what does that mean for them?

If Wigan beat Salford Red Devils on Thursday, or draw, they’ll clinch the League Leaders’ Shield, and Hull KR will finish second.

However, if they lose, they’ll have to hope Hull KR don’t beat Leeds Rhinos, as the Robins have a better points difference.

Wire need Hull KR to lose if they’re to finish in the top two, which would mean they don’t need to play an eliminator game.

However, they’d need to beat London Broncos by a large enough margin to overturn the 16 points deficit in points difference.

If they stay third, they’ll play the sixth-placed team next week.

Salford Red Devils: 4th-5th

The Red Devils are up against Wigan Warriors, making things tricky.

Their points difference is much lower than that of St Helens, meaning if they lose and St Helens beat Leigh, they would drop to fifth.

However, a draw or better would secure fourth.

St Helens: 4th-8th

A win for Saints against Leigh Leopards and a loss for Salford would secure fourth.

However, a win for Saints and a win for Salford, or a draw for Saints, could mean fifth.

Meanwhile, if all of Leigh, Leeds and Catalans win, they could in theory drop to eighth, but their points difference is so high it’s likely they would still finish sixth.

Fourth spot would mean playing fifth-placed side, sixth-place would mean playing the third-placed team.

Seventh or eighth means no play-off spot.

Leigh Leopards: 5th-8th

A Leigh win would put them ahead of Saints and confirm fifth place.

However, both Leeds and Catalans could overtake them with a win if Leigh lose, or potentially draw if a monster points difference swing was to occur.

For Leeds and Catalans, a draw between Saints and Leigh would mean they can’t finish fifth.

There are many things that can happen, but essentially, either of them need a win with a huge points swing to overcome either Leigh or Saints.

As those sides are playing each other, Leeds or Catalans can’t finish fifth as at least one Leigh and Saints will get a point or two.

Huddersfield Giants: 9th

Castleford Tigers: 10th

Neither of these teams can go higher or lower, and they’re playing each other this week.

Both on six points this year, just one point on points difference separates the sides.

A win for one and a loss for the other would secure 11th for the winner – as would a draw for one and a loss for the other.

If both lose, they have to hope they lose by fewer points than the other team – otherwise they’re bottom of Super League.
