Castleford Tigers won bragging rights against Wakefield Trinity last night in a fast and frenetic West Yorkshire derby clash.
Lee Radford’s men eventually ran out 34-4 winners – and it could have been more.
But, he Castleford boss spoke on a weird moment during the game when Paul McShane scooped up a loose play-the-ball from Wakefield to dive over under the posts.
“It was a bizarre one, when I last saw that I got sacked on the evening against Warrington,” Radford joked.
You can even see the footage for yourself here.
It was Radford’s first derby win for Castleford since taking over ahead of the 2022 Super League season, and he couldn’t have been happier with his side’s performance.
“I’m pleased with how we responded,” Radford said.
“I thought we started really well which is what we needed to do after last week.
“Last Friday’s start killed us and set the tempo for the rest of the game so to get a response like that is a credit to the group.
“I just thought it was a grindy game and I love those games of rugby – I thought we took our opportunities when they came out.”
Radford identified two of his players in particular for how they performed.
“I thought Westy (Joe Westerman) and Liam Watts were outstanding and congratulations to Greg (Eden) to scoring his 100th try.”
