Castleford Tigers have taken a massive step towards their redeveloped stadium.
For years the Tigers have been chasing stadium redevelopment and after being provided funding by Wakefield City Council they took a major step towards that dream in 2022.
At the end of last year they submitted their plans, but have had to sit in limbo for 12 months and watch rivals Wakefield Trinity redevelop Belle Vue to huge success.
However, after a year of waiting, the Tigers took a major step towards their redeveloped stadium after British Highways pulled out their objection against the plans.
So what next? The planning will be reviewed by the City Council as they look to secure planning permission.
One problem is the existing opposition from the Environmental Agency due to a flooding concern but it is likely that this will be overcome.
The Tigers are in great shape as an organisation ahead of the 2024 season having secured 15 great sponsorship deals for the year the latest with the world’s leading performance nutrition brand SiS (Science in Sport).
Following on from a successful partnership last season, SiS will continue to provide Tigers teams with high-quality sports nutrition for the 2024 season. Tigers fans will see branding at Wheldon Road for SiS and on players run on jerseys and training kit.
