Castleford Tigers will be without Ryan Carr for their clash against Hull KR on Friday night with the club previously confirming that their head coach will not be in attendance, however, we now know who will be the man fronting the press after the game.
Ryan Carr would front the press himself on Tuesday as he gave his weekly presser with the key themes being a breakdown of his side’s loss to Warrington, a general injury and squad update, and a message that now rings even more true.
“We’re playing for our fans. I can’t say that enough,” Carr declared in that presser.
“That’s how I feel. That’s my only goal, is to make this town proud of the club that we produce. We’re playing to get as high up that competition table as we can because that’s ultimately what our goal was when we started the year, to finish as high up it as we can.”
According to a report from Love Rugby League, Carr was stood down shortly after that press conference and a statement from the Tigers on Wednesday evening didn’t offer much more clarity on whether Carr was or was not suspended.

That statement instead confirmed that the Australian would not be at the One Bore Stadium on account of ‘personal reasons’, with Castleford to be led by Chris Chester, Rob Nikolay and Scott Murrell, whilst also being supported by club legend Adrian Vowles.
Castleford also added that no further comment would be made but Serious About Rugby League’s sister site the Yorkshire Evening Post have had it confirmed who will be the man leading the post-match presser on Friday, something that the Tigers fans will hope offers more information.
Director of rugby Chris Chester, who took temporary charge of the club at the end of the 2025 season after Danny McGuire’s sacking, will be the man to front the media post-match.
Whether Chester maintains the club’s stance of no further comment on Carr’s status is to be seen.
