What is Sky Sports+ and how to watch with Super League and EFL to be shown

Super League

Rugby League fans will be getting well acquainted with Sky Sports+ this week, with the broadcaster showing Super League on its new platform.

Sky are televising every Super League game this season, but only two or three will be shown each week on their usual channels that can be found on the TV Guide. That’s because most fixtures will now be streamed on Sky Sports+, with Friday night’s double-header the first games set to be shown.

With that in mind, here’s all you need to know about Sky Sports+

What is Sky Sports+?

The streaming platform has been designed so Sky can offer subscribers even more bang for their buck, with more live sport than ever before being shown by the broadcaster. Its launch coincides with the start of the new Football League season, but it will be showing Super League games, too.

How do I find Sky Sports+?

Sky customers with either Sky Q or Sky Glass, will see a linear channel appear on their TV guide. From there the platform can be accessed through your Sky homepage or the red button. Sky Sports app users will also be access the games being shown via streaming on mobile devices.

Do I have to pay extra?

If you’re an existing Sky Sports customer the new platform is absolutely free. If not, then of course, you will need to upgrade or sign up.

What Super League games will be shown?

So, St Helens vs Salford Red Devils will be on the Sky Sports+ channel this evening. However, the platform will televise both Friday night fixtures as well as the EFL, with Hull KR hosting Castleford Tigers and Huddersfield Giants taking on Catalans Dragons.

Sunday’s games will also be shown with Leigh Leopards facing Hull FC and London Broncos welcoming Warrington Wolves to the capital.
Sky will continue to show two games across the Super League round, as was normal prior to this season, but rest assured, you will still be able to watch your team regardless of broadcast selections.

What else will be on?

As mentioned, Sky are going big on the EFL this year, with all 72 teams across the three divisions to be shown on TV more than 20 times over the season and more than 1,000 games being shown. Over 100 tennis tournaments will be available to watch, too.

Why can’t I record a match on sky sports plus.. most matches kick off at the same and therefore I can only watch one game as I can’t recpord the other.

Can you ask Sky to clarify if matches can be viewed at a later date (or time)?
If the answer is “no” this so called improved service is a retrograde step. I watch most matches each week, including my own club’s home games after watching them live. If I can no longer do that I may as well get rid of Sky altogether!

We do not have sky+ so does that mean we cannot watch the rugby. We usually watch it on channel 426
