What happened next to the Leeds Rhinos side that won the treble 10 years ago

Leeds Rhinos

Ten years ago this week Leeds Rhinos beat Wigan Warriors 22-20 at Old Trafford to complete a clean sweep of domestic trophies.

Rhinos had already hammered Hull KR 50-0 in the Challenge Cup showpiece at Wembley and snatched the league leaders’ shield thanks to Ryan Hall’s last-gasp winning try away to Huddersfield Giants in the final round of the regular Super League season.

The Grand Final was a glorious farewell for Rhinos’ retiring trio of Kevin Sinfield, Jamie Peacock and Kylie Leuluai and they had an unexpected hero in rookie forward Josh Walters who came off the bench to score the equalising try, setting up his skipper to kick the winning conversion.

Five of the Leeds men on duty that day are still playing, two of them for Rhinos, but – tragically – one of the side’s biggest names is no longer with us. Here’s what came next for the class of 2015.

Full-back: Zak Hardaker

Played for Castleford Tigers, Wigan, Rhinos again and Leigh Leopards after leaving Leeds. Now at Hull FC, he’s still as good as anyone in the competition.

Wing: Tom Briscoe

Had a spell with Leigh after leaving Leeds and is now back at his first professional club, Hull FC, alongside his ex-Leeds teammate Hardaker.

Centre: Kallum Watkins

Now a second-row or loose-forward, the 34-year-old returned to Rhinos midway through this season from Salford Red Devils – having had a spell with Gold Coast Titans – and is being touted as a contender for England’s Ashes squad.

Centre: Joel Moon

Has several businesses working with young offenders in his native Australia; his teenage son Angus is a stand-off in Brisbane Broncos’ development system.

Wing: Ryan Hall

Rhinos’ top try scorer this year in his first season back at the club following spells with Sydney Roosters and Hull KR.

Stand-off: Kevin Sinfield CBE

Skills and kicking coach with England rugby union and nationally famous for his epic endurance challenges which have raised millions of pounds for motor neurone disease causes.

Scrum-half: Danny McGuire

Spent the first part of this season as team boss at Castleford Tigers, having previously played for and coached Hull KR.

Prop: Mitch Garbutt

Retired from rugby league last year after playing and coaching in France, he is now a project manager for an electric vehicle company in Australia.

Hooker: Rob Burrow CBE

His courage and positivity after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2019 captured the hearts of the nation. He helped raise millions of pounds to fight the illness before his death last year.

Prop: Jamie Peacock MBE

Still involved in rugby league as a pundit and a regular at AMT Headingley on match days, he is now a motivational speaker and leadership guru.

Second-row: Brett Delaney

Played briefly for Featherstone Rovers after leaving Leeds and then moved into coaching with Hull KR and, this year, Castleford Tigers.

Second-row: Carl Ablett

Now runs his own business, Ablett Plumbing and Heating, in Leeds, specialising in boiler and heating repairs and servicing.

Loose-forward: Brad Singleton

Played for Toronto Wolfpack, Wigan Warriors and Salford Red Devils following his time with Leeds, joined Castleford Tigers midway through the 2025 season and has been granted a testimonial in 2026.

 Sub: Kylie Leuluai

Head of rugby operations at Warrington Wolves. His son Marley Leuluai is on the books at Premiership club Burnley FC.

Sub: Jimmy Keinhorst

Had stints with Hull KR, Castleford and York Knights after Leeds. Hung up his boots in August last year to focus on a new career as a train driver with TransPennine Express.

Sub: Josh Walters

Had spells with Featherstone Rovers and London Broncos and is now a personal trainer. He scored the winning try for Glasgow club West End Warriors against Edinburgh Eagles in this year’s Scottish rugby league Championship Grand Final.

Sub: Adam Cuthbertson

Coached Rhinos’ women to Grand Final success before returning to Australia where he is now at the helm of Queensland Cup side Mackay Cutters. He is also director of brewing company Lowecal.

Coach: Brian McDermott

Was in charge of Toronto Wolfpack and Featherstone Rovers after Leeds; recently joined NRL outfit Gold Coast Titans as assistant-coach after a similar spell with Newcastle Knights.
