What does Dunning exit mean for reported huge Bradford Bulls signing?

Bradford Bulls have been bullish in terms of recruitment in the last 12 months.

They have brought in former Huddersfield Giants skipper Michael Lawrence, World Cup star Keven Appo, Leeds Rhinos Grand Finalist Bodene Thompson and of course Jack Walker.

The fullback still holds the record for the youngest Super League Champion ever after he helped Leeds to glory in 2017 just months after turning 18.

That recruitment hasn’t stopped as the season has begun.

The Bulls have recently signed former Super League prop Jason Baitieri. The forward is something of a legend at Catalans Dragons and is a major coup for the Bulls.

However, that signing is nothing compared to the signing the Bulls are looking to secure according to reports from Leeds Live.

They revealed last week that the Bulls were looking to sign former Leeds Rhinos hooker James Segeyaro.

The hooker signed for Leeds back in 2016 and was key to the Rhinos salvaging a difficult season.

He signed a deal to remain at the club long term but home sickness saw him leave before the 2017 season when Leeds turned to Matt Parcell.

Segeyaro has been open in the past about wanting a UK return and has been plying his trade in France recently in the Elite One Championship.

Now though the hooker is set to return to West Yorkshire.

However, there has been some upheaval at Odsal today with the Bulls parting company with coach Mark Dunning.

This hopefully will not derail the signing as it would be brilliant to see Segeyaro back in the UK.

With the Bulls trusting the common sporting model of relying on a Director of Rugby, it is hopeful that the deal with still go through.
